Creating Timers in ProPresenter 7
Timers have a wide range of use for services, both on-screen and on confidence monitors. This guide will give the basics on how to create a new timer, how to use themes to show on-screen, and how to assign cues to slides. This is not an exhaustive guide on times in ProPresenter 7.
Step 1: Create the Timer
- Select "Timers," then click the + button in the lower right of the timers window to add a new timer.
- Close the "Timers" window.

Step 2: Create a Theme for On-Screen Display
If you want this timer to show through to the switcher, you'll need to create a theme with linked text.
- Click the ellipsis, then select "Theme Editor."
- Click the up/down arrows in the left side pane to create a new theme, then name it and click save.
- Add a new text element with the large + button in the upper left of the center section.
- In the text properties, tick "Linked Text," find "Timers," then select the timer you created in Step 1.
After the theme is created, you can apply the theme to a slide to show the timer on-screen. This will be covered in a later step.

Step 3: Create a Stage Display Layout
To display the timer on a stage display, you'll either need to add a text box with linked text to an existing layout or create a new layout for the timer. In this step, you'll learn how to create a new layout for the timer.
- Open the Stage Layout editor.
- Create a new blank layout, then add a text element and link the text to the time created in Step 1.
- Close the Stage Layout editor.

Step 4: Adding Cues to Slides for Timers
There are two main cues you'll add when using timers, one for on-screen display, and one for stage displays.
On-Screen Display
- Create a new presentation, a new slide, then add a text element with linked text to the timer.
- In show mode, right-click on the slide, then "Add Action," "Timer," then select the timer.
- Then set the configuration of the action. It can either simply start the timer, or set the configuration and start the timer.

Stage Display Only
- Either add a new slide or add these actions on an existing slide.
- Right-click, go to "Add Action," then click on "Stage."
- In the Stage Layouts dropdown select the stage layout that includes the timer in a linked text box.
- Then choose the slide destination; either "Stage" or "Stage + Audience."
- Selecting "Stage" will suppress the slide output on the main output.
- Selecting "Stage + Audience" will show on both the stage display and the main output, if there are linked text boxes available.

Step 5: Resetting Stage Layouts
If you use a "Stage" action for the stage display layout, you'll need to have a cue somewhere in the playlist to clear the suppression and reset the layout to the standard layout. Follow these steps to do so.
- Add a slide, or use a clear slide in any song or presentation.
- Add an action, select stage, then select the layout you want to reset to, and select "Stage + Audience."
